But there’s a big difference between success and fulfillment. The system that society has put in place will drive you toward success at any cost, and yet it’s entirely possible to do well at work and still feel unfulfilled. “Great,” you might end up thinking. “Now that I’m successful, why do I feel so empty?” Could it be that you have entered the “Achievement versus Fulfillment Zone?”
It’s your job to make sure that you’re fulfilled in your life. It’s critical to articulate your values. Get off the merry-go-round of life for a minute, and take a look at what matters most to you.
Find that place where your deepest hopes and dreams reside. Ask yourself – why am I here – what is my purpose – what does it look like – how does it make me feel when I reach it?
Without a deep sense of purpose about what you want and why you want it, you run the risk of becoming another person trapped in the “Achievement versus Fulfillment Zone.” You have many things, yet you are empty – can you picture what I am saying in your mind. Can you see what people are doing to fill the void – not a pretty sight?
Quote of the week: Your life has a purpose. Your story is Important. Your dreams Count. Your voice matters. You were born to make an Impact.
Word of the week: Zone – any continuous tract or area that differs in some respect or is distinguished for some purpose, from adjoining lots or sectors, or within which certain distinctive circumstances exist or are established.
Ask yourself: Are you caught in the achievement versus fulfillment zone?
Speaking With a Purpose: “I help you bridge the gap between … Where you are versus where you want to be.” My ultimate goal – help you become a better you!
Until next time,
Houston out!
